Frequently Asked Questions

Does Wiseventory support batch number tracking for medicines?

Yes. Wiseventory allows you to record batch numbers and expiry dates for every stock entry. When you sell a medicine, the system deducts from the correct batch and records the batch number on the invoice. This is essential for drug recall traceability and is a mandatory requirement under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act for scheduled drugs and other regulated medicines.

How does the expiry date alert system work?

Wiseventory sends automatic alerts when medicines are approaching their expiry date — you can configure alerts at 30, 60, and 90 days before expiry. The dashboard shows a colour-coded expiry status for all batches currently in stock: green for safe, yellow for approaching expiry, and red for critical. This helps you return near-expiry stock to distributors before it becomes unsellable, protecting your profit margins.

Can I search for medicines by salt composition or generic name?

Yes. Wiseventory supports product search by brand name, generic name, salt composition, or manufacturer. When a customer asks for a substitute because a specific brand is out of stock, you can quickly search by the active ingredient to find available alternatives. This feature is particularly useful for busy retail pharmacies where customers frequently ask for generic equivalents or substitutes for prescribed brands.

Does Wiseventory generate GST invoices compliant with pharmacy regulations?

Yes. Wiseventory generates fully GST-compliant invoices for medical shops with the correct HSN codes for pharmaceutical products. The platform automatically applies the appropriate GST rate — medicines are typically at 12% or exempt depending on the category — and generates invoices in the format accepted by the GST portal. Your GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B data can be exported directly for monthly filing.

Can Wiseventory handle both prescription and OTC medicine sales?

Yes. You can manage both prescription medicines and over-the-counter (OTC) products in the same Wiseventory account. You can tag products by schedule (Schedule H, Schedule H1, OTC) and set access controls for Schedule H1 drugs that require additional documentation. All invoice data, including the prescription reference, can be recorded for regulatory compliance and audit purposes.
